My Life in a Few Sentences...

I grew up in the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia, and lived downtown after graduating from Georgia State University. In 2020, I took a chance and applied for UK citizenship after my mom (who waited over 20 years to tell me) said she could pass down her citizenship one generation. Once my UK passport arrived in the mail, I booked my flight to London, packed my bags, and set up shop in London.

When I first got to London, I was interviewing and applying to jobs like crazy. One thing always held me back: I wanted to work on my terms. I was taking freelance work as a means to and end, but one day the lightbulb went off: I could do this full-time. Now, I work on mainly market research projects for a wide variety of clients. I've grown my freelance business from taking what I could get, to having the benefit of being selective in a matter of months.

Why Do I Freelance?

I earned my degree in Marketing from Georgia State University, and I did so because I didn't take the time to really think about what I wanted from a career - or if I even wanted a career in the traditional sense. I've always been musical and creative, but was never shown those options as viable ways to make a living.

I started freelancing to keep some income flowing in as I got on my feet halfway across the world. It took a while for me to realize that I was on to something. Sometimes it feels like I'm using a secret cheat code, why doesn't everyone do this?

Everyday, I get to wake up and choose the projects I work on, the people I work with, and the schedule I keep. I also get to explore my other hobbies that were previously shelved while I pursued corporate careers. Freelancing is gaining in popularity, and I am so grateful I jumped on the train early!

My Work in a Nutshell

I chose the market research field because I wanted to combine my passion for psychology with my entrepreneurial mindset. On any given day, I am conducting interviews, testing website prototypes, writing surveys, and analyzing data.

I've had the opportunity to work with some amazing clients so far. I help them bring their big ideas to life, get to know their customers on a deeper level, and make insights-driven decisions.

When I'm Not Freelancing...

With the freedom I get from freelancing, I am able to pursue so many other hobbies that I would have otherwise had to postpone until... retirement.

I have a thriving houseplant collection, I started painting and creating digital art again, learning French and Spanish, and I read a whole lot. When the pandemic is over, I plan to continue crossing travel destinations off my bucket list. First stop will be Greece!
